Write DMs people actually tap

Simple patterns for automatic Instagram DMs that get clicks: short message, clear button, the right link. 4 min read

Your DM has one job: get a tap on the button. Everything else is in the way.

Say what they're getting, in one line

Name the thing from the Reel so they know it's the right message: “Here's the full itinerary from the Reel 👇” works better than “Thanks for commenting!”

Make the button say the action

The button text should match what happens: Open itinerary, Shop the kurta, Book a call. Avoid “Click here” and “Link”. You have 20 characters.

Keep it under 80 characters

When your DM has a button, Instagram shows the message as a card title and cuts it around 80 characters. Put details on the page you link to.

Check the link works for everyone

Google Docs and Drive links must be shared as Anyone with the link can view, or people see “Request access” and leave.
