This takes about five minutes the first time. After that, adding a keyword to a new Reel takes under a minute.
Before you start
- Your Instagram is a professional account (Creator or Business).
- In Instagram, go to Settings → Messages and story replies → Message controls → Connected tools and turn on Allow access to messages. Without this, Instagram blocks every automatic DM.
- Have your link ready: a Google Drive folder, a product page, a Notion doc, anything that starts with https://.
1. Connect your Instagram
Create your AutoDM App account, click Connect Instagram, log in on Instagram's page and tap Allow. You're sent back to your dashboard with the account connected.
2. Pick a keyword people will actually type
Short, one word, easy to spell on a phone. LINK, PRICE, GUIDE and MENU work well. Matching ignores capital letters, emoji and punctuation, so “link 🔥” and “LINK!!” both count.
Choose Message contains the word so “send link pls” also works. Use Message is exactly the word only when your keyword is a common word that would trigger by accident.
3. Choose the post
Leave Any post selected to answer the keyword everywhere, or pick one Reel from the list (or paste its link) to send a link that only belongs to that Reel.
4. Write the DM
Keep it short: what they're getting, then the button. Put the link in the Link box, not in the message, so it shows as a button. See how to write DMs people tap.
5. Add a public reply
A reply like “Sent you a DM 📩” under each comment tells everyone else scrolling that it works, and more people comment.
6. Test it
Comment your keyword from a second account. Within a few seconds you should see sent in your dashboard's activity list, and the DM in that account's inbox (or its Message requests folder if it doesn't follow you).
